Information
Definition
IT earthing is an arrangement where the supply has no direct connection to earth or is connected through a high impedance. It is normally assessed during product selection, circuit design, installation verification and maintenance of EV charging equipment.
Why it matters
It is uncommon for typical UK EV charging but can appear in specialist electrical systems and requires careful protection design. For UK users, it supports safer specification decisions and reduces the risk of misunderstanding how a charger should be protected or installed.
