The acquisition expands Electrogenic’s US partner network and gives the former TREMEC Electric GT operation access to Electrogenic’s vehicle-control software, powertrain systems and conversion technology.
The deal expands Electrogenic’s North American operation
Electrogenic develops electric powertrain systems for applications including specialist vehicle conversions, manufacturers and defence projects. The company says the California base will support existing partners, provide more localised services and expand manufacturing options in North America.
The two teams have already worked together, and Electrogenic says the acquisition will support development of new powertrain technology and further vehicle-conversion products for the US market.
Why a powertrain acquisition matters to charging
This is not a charging-network announcement, but specialist powertrains can create charging requirements that sit outside mainstream passenger-car assumptions. Battery capacity, onboard AC charging, DC fast-charging capability and the vehicle’s intended duty cycle all affect the infrastructure needed to support a conversion or specialist fleet.
That is particularly relevant for commercial, defence and retrofit applications where vehicles may have unusual operating patterns, long service lives or bespoke battery configurations.
