Definition
App control allows users or installers to control, configure or monitor charging through a mobile application. It is normally considered alongside charge point management systems, OCPP support, firmware updates, reporting and remote diagnostics.
Why it matters
It is common in domestic and workplace charging, but app dependence should be considered alongside user access, support and backend availability. For UK users, it affects day-to-day operation, supportability, data access, interoperability and the long-term usefulness of the charger.
