Mercedes-Benz UK appoints Pod as sole home-charging partner

Mercedes-Benz UK has appointed Pod as its sole home EV charging partner, extending an existing relationship between the two companies.

The customer offer is built around the Pod Point Solo 3S home charger, with optional access to the Pod Power by EDF electricity tariff and the Pod Rewards smart-charging programme.

From preferred supplier to sole home charging partner

Pod says the new arrangement makes it the sole home charging partner for Mercedes-Benz UK customers. The companies have worked together previously, including a preferred-supplier relationship announced in 2023.

The change gives Mercedes-Benz a more defined charging pathway for customers buying an electric vehicle, while Pod gains a direct position inside the OEM customer journey.

Mercedes customers receive a home charger discount

Mercedes-Benz customers are being offered £250 off an untethered Solo 3S with standard installation, reducing the quoted price from £999 to £749.

Pod is also offering a subscription route at £27 per month for three years, with the usual £99 upfront installation fee waived. Chargers installed through the partnership include a five-year warranty.

The offer combines vehicle, charger and electricity services

Pod Power by EDF is a two-rate tariff with a seven-hour overnight charging window. Pod Rewards separately allows drivers to earn rewards when charging is scheduled through the Pod Home app.

The package reflects a wider trend in OEM home charging, where the vehicle purchase is increasingly linked with charger installation, energy tariff and managed-charging services rather than simply a recommended wallbox.

Bundling simplifies the purchase but can narrow the default choice

For customers, one approved route can reduce the number of decisions involved in arranging a home installation.

The trade-off is that the recommended hardware, installer pathway and energy services are increasingly tied together. Customers may therefore still want to check whether the charger remains fully usable if they later change energy supplier or charging-service provider.
