Why EVCP Info Exists: A UK Reference Platform for EV Charging Hardware

The UK EV charging sector is growing at pace. The number of charge point models available to UK installers, operators, and specifiers has expanded considerably over the past few years, and with that growth has come a familiar challenge: finding reliable, consistent, comparable information about the hardware itself is harder than it should be.

The Problem With How Charger Information Currently Works

A typical product research workflow in the EV charging sector might involve consulting a manufacturer’s product page, downloading a datasheet, cross-referencing an installation manual, checking certification listings, reviewing OZEV-eligible product lists, and then following up with a distributor or manufacturer directly to fill in the gaps. Even after all of that, information may arrive in different formats, use inconsistent terminology, or leave certain technical details — protection features, backend compatibility, compliance specifics — in a form that requires further investigation to fully understand.

This is not a problem that sits neatly at any single party’s door. Datasheets are written for different audiences. Marketing materials serve a commercial function. Installation documentation prioritises safe deployment over specification completeness. Some technical details are genuinely complex, and how they are presented varies considerably across manufacturers and product lines.

The consequence, however, is that technical professionals — installers, consultants, specifiers, charge point operators — regularly spend time piecing together information that should, in an ideal world, be available in one place, in a consistent format, ready to compare. In a sector where projects move quickly and the margin for error is narrow, that time adds up.

What EVCP Info Is

EVCP Info is an independent UK EV charging hardware information platform, created by VN Solutions Ltd, launched publicly on 1 July 2026. Its purpose is to bring product, technical, compliance, and commercial information together in a structured, comparable format — with a primary focus on AC EV charge points available in the UK market.

The platform is not a marketplace, a reseller, a manufacturer-owned comparison tool, or a consumer review site. It carries no commercial relationship with the products or manufacturers it covers. That independence is central to how it is built and why it exists.

At launch, EVCP Info includes:

  • Charger Catalogue — a searchable, filterable database of UK-market AC EV chargers, with filtering by manufacturer, outlet type, power rating, networking features, protection functions, compliance data, form factor, and application type.
  • Comparison Tool — structured side-by-side comparison across key categories including electrical specification, protection and safety, PEN-fault protection, networking, backend support, network sharing, and compliance.
  • Individual Charger Profile Pages — consistent product pages covering specifications, features, safety functions, compliance data, product images, and manufacturer links for each model or variant in the catalogue.
  • Manufacturer Profiles — pages covering company details, support contacts, product listings, and relevant profile information for manufacturers active in the UK market.
  • Technical Glossary — plain-language explanations of EV charging terminology, standards, protocols, and regulations, including OCPP, ISO 15118, PAS 1899, PEN-fault protection, MID metering, Eichrecht, AFIR, and a range of other terms that appear regularly in practice but are not always well documented in one place.
  • Resources Section — a curated reference area covering standards bodies, certification organisations, industry groups, guidance providers, and other relevant UK EV infrastructure resources.
  • News and Insights — sector articles, technical explainers, standards updates, and product-related commentary. This piece is one of five published at launch.

Who It Is For

EVCP Info is built for the technical and commercial professionals working in and around the UK EV charging sector. That includes electricians and EV charger installers, electrical contractors, consultants and specifiers, charge point operators, fleet and workplace charging decision-makers, infrastructure designers, manufacturers and distributors, training providers, and industry organisations.

It is also intended to be genuinely useful to technically minded end users — those specifying, procuring, or overseeing EV charging installations who want to understand the hardware choices available to them and engage with that information on their own terms.

The platform is free to use and does not require registration.

Why Independence Matters

The EV charging equipment market is commercial by nature. Manufacturers promote their own products. Distributors prioritise their supply lines. Comparison tools frequently carry commercial arrangements that shape what gets featured and how. None of this is inherently problematic, but it does mean that independent, structured reference information is relatively uncommon in this space.

EVCP Info has no affiliation with the products it covers, no financial relationship with manufacturers, and no commercial interest in which products a user ultimately selects. The aim is to be a reference platform in the truest sense — useful because it is reliable, not because it is persuasive.
