The Charge Ready NY – Large Public Sector Project programme is open to public bodies including state agencies, local governments and state or city university systems. Charging infrastructure must be installed on publicly owned land and made available to the general public.

Projects can receive up to $15 million

Selected projects can receive between $1 million and $15 million, with funding covering up to 80% of eligible documented EVSE purchase and installation costs.

Applications can cover one or multiple sites. Proposals are due by 20 October 2026.

Equipment and network providers must be pre-qualified

Applicants cannot select any charger or network provider independently. To receive funding, they must work with equipment manufacturers, white-label suppliers or network service providers already approved through NYSERDA’s Charge Ready NY qualification process.

That makes the programme a useful contrast with funding models based mainly on site and charger numbers. The equipment and network ecosystem forms part of the eligibility requirements from the start.
