The integration is intended to let drivers pay for charging without creating an account or using an RFID card, with payment options including cards and common digital wallets.
Direct payment through the existing backend
Cariqa’s payment layer is being integrated with be.ENERGISED rather than requiring CPOs to replace the charging-management platform itself.
For operators, that makes the development primarily a payments and user-access change rather than a charger-hardware change.
Ad-hoc payment is becoming a standard expectation
Direct payment has become increasingly important as European charging rules move towards simpler ad-hoc access and clearer pricing.
QR-based payment can provide a lower-hardware route than installing a card terminal on every charger, although operators still need to consider security, accessibility, transaction costs and the reliability of the mobile payment journey.
Commercial details still matter
The public announcement does not yet provide all of the commercial detail needed to compare the integration with other payment routes.
Useful follow-up points include supported countries, acquiring arrangements, transaction fees and whether the service is available to all be.ENERGISED customers or only selected deployments.
